No one can deny the fact that the Internet these days proves itself to be an indispensable part of our lives. Although it brings us enormous benefits, there still exist some serious drawbacks which are worth intensive consideration.

ADV1: The first and most important benefit is that it is a great way to communicate/ we can use it to keep in touch with other people < explain, analyze, give example... >

            The first and most important benefit is that it is a great way to communicate. Take email as an example. In the past, hand writing letters were the prominent way people used to keep in touch with each other. However, delivering them could take several days or even weeks due to distance. In addition, senders could run the risk of the post office losing or damaging their items. Nowadays, thanks to the Internet, electrical email has been used, which brings enormous convenience for users. Specifically, emails can be composed, sent and received within a matter of minutes. Also, transmitting emails is free, other than the cost of the Internet connection.

            ADV2: Another merit, no less important is that we can use it to broaden our horizons. This is because the Internet has brought a great deal of information on every field, from history, economy to science or religion.

DIS1:

            One the other hand, Internet users have to face some problems. First of all, some adolescents’ behaviors seem to be dictated in a bad way due to the frequent exposure to violent or illegal websites. This is because Internet can be accessed easily and there are no specific restriction policies in order to prevent those websites that have bad influence on young people.

            Secondly, the use of Internet may make out personal information vulnerable to theft. For instance, when we use Internet services such as e-shopping, e-banking or social networking, our account numbers, addresses, photos and credit card numbers can be stolen or misused by thieving websites and individuals.

Weigh: Nonetheless, the greater magnitude of its advantages outweighs its disadvantages.

Advice: It is advised that raising the Internet users’ awareness or policies issued / produced by the government to control the drawbacks can give a hand to improve the Internet matters.
